Patrice Motsepe confirms Candidacy for Second Term as CAF President

CAF President Patrice Motsepe has officially announced his bid for re-election, with the next presidential election set for March 2025.

Having assumed office in March 2021, Motsepe’s tenure has focused on transformative reforms to elevate African football on the global stage. The 61-year-old South African businessman and mining magnate has prioritized financial transparency and institutional accountability within CAF.

“CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe has agreed to stand as a candidate in the CAF Presidential Elections in March 2025,” CAF confirmed, noting the decision follows calls from several CAF Member Association Presidents, Zonal Union Presidents, and other key stakeholders.

Motsepe’s administration has introduced significant changes, emphasizing financial stability, transparency, and a stronger global reputation for African football.
