Mauritian boxing stars Richarno Colin, a Commonwealth Games silver medallist, and two-time Olympian Mervin Clair, have been excluded from Mauritius’ team for the Africa Elite Boxing Championships in Kinshasa, DR Congo, from October 14-27, 2024. The selected team includes flyweight Valerie Fabrice, bantamweight Guillaume Francis, and welterweight Amene Marquis. Colin is sidelined due to injury, while Clair, transitioning to middleweight, has struggled with consistency in training. The team will be coached by Cuban Roberto Chavez and Josiah Lebon.
