Ruth Chepngetich Breaks World Record at Chicago Marathon with Historic Sub-2:10 Finish

Ruth Chepngetich of Kenya made history at the Chicago Marathon, finishing in 2:09:56 and breaking the previous world record by nearly two minutes. The 30-year-old surpassed Ethiopia’s Tigist Assefa’s record of 2:11:53, set in Berlin just weeks earlier. Chepngetich expressed her joy, calling it a dream fulfilled. She is now the first woman to complete a marathon in under 2:10.

In the men’s race, Kenyan runner John Korir claimed victory with a time of 2:02:44, honoring the memory of fellow Kenyan runner Kelvin Kiptum, who tragically passed away in a car accident earlier this year.
