Seven Nigerian Starlets on Verge of Provisional Cap-Tie to England for U17 Euro Qualifiers

England’s U17 head coach, Neil Ryan, has named a 21-man squad for the 2025 UEFA European Under-17 Championship qualifiers, set to take place in Malta this month. Among those selected are seven young talents of Nigerian descent, who could be provisionally cap-tied to England. The players include Chelsea’s Landon Emenalo, Aston Villa’s Owen Asemota, West Ham United Trio Lanre Awesu, Chinaza Nwosu, and Andre Dike, as well as Liverpool’s Rio Ngumoha.

Chizaram Ezenwata, son of former Nigerian star Ndubuisi Ezenwata, also makes the list. If any of these players feature in the upcoming games against Malta, Latvia, or Sweden, they would need to request a one-time switch of allegiance to represent Nigeria in the future.
