South Africa has named five boxers, including reigning Africa minimumweight champion Lubabalo Lusizi and bronze medallist Mathiba Thandolwethu, to compete in the Africa Elite Boxing Championships in Kinshasa, DR Congo, from October 14 to 27, 2024. The team will be captained by Mandela Cup light-welterweight silver medallist John Paul Masamba.
The squad, comprising three women and two men, also includes Mandela Cup silver medallist Dila Voyulwethu and bronze medallist Ncube Ntandoyenkosi. Lusizi will fight in the flyweight division, while Masamba is expected to face a tough challenge from DR Congo’s Mbaya Mulumba.
