Sudan’s assistant coach, Ignatius Osei Fosu, has expressed his team’s strong belief in their chances of qualifying for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. Following a goalless draw with Ghana in Accra during the third round of the qualifiers, Fosu reiterated Sudan’s confidence. The result puts Sudan at four points in Group F, two points ahead of third-placed Ghana, who now risk missing out on AFCON for the first time in two decades.
“We’ve always been confident since the start of the competition, especially knowing that we’re ahead of Senegal in the World Cup qualifiers,” Fosu said during the post-match press conference. He emphasized that if Sudan wins all its home games, it would secure nine points—enough to qualify.
Ghana will face Sudan in an away fixture in Libya on Tuesday in the fourth round of the AFCON qualifiers.
