Tottenham, West Ham, and Newcastle Monitoring Nigerian Defender Caleb Okoli

Tottenham Hotspur is reportedly interested in signing dual-national central defender Caleb Okoli after missing out on him during the summer transfer window. The Lilywhites are keeping a close eye on the progress of the Italian-born Nigerian player, who recently joined Leicester City from Atalanta in July 2024.

While Tottenham considered a move for Okoli after extensively scouting him in Italy, they had concerns about his ability to adapt to the Premier League. Similarly, Newcastle United and West Ham United are also monitoring Okoli with an eye on a potential transfer in the future.

After being a non-playing substitute in Leicester City’s first two matches of the new Premier League season, Okoli has since secured a starting position, featuring in the last five league games. He is currently on international duty with the Italian national team and is set to play in a cap-tying match against Israel at the Friuli Stadium in Udine.

Okoli, who was an unused substitute in recent matches against France, Israel, and Belgium, is eligible to represent the Super Eagles through his Nigerian parents, Paul and Tina Okoli, who immigrated to Italy in 1996.
