U-17 Women’s World Cup: Nigeria’s Coach Bankole Olowookere Confident Ahead of Opener Against New Zealand

Nigeria’s U-17 women’s national team head coach, Bankole Olowookere, has expressed confidence in his team’s readiness ahead of their opening match against New Zealand at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup. The match is set to take place tomorrow at the CFC Stadium in Santiago de los Caballeros.

Olowookere is optimistic that his squad, known as the Flamingos, is well-prepared to improve on their previous performance, which saw them win a bronze medal in the last edition held in India.

He acknowledged the Nigeria Football Federation’s efforts in ensuring a strong preparation, including a two-week training camp in the Dominican Republic.

The coach emphasized the importance of taking each game seriously without underestimating any opponent and stressed the team’s goal to excel in the competition. The Flamingos will face New Zealand, a consistent participant in the U-17 Women’s World Cup since its inception in 2008, in their Group A opener at 4pm local time (9pm in Nigeria).
