Wilfred Ndidi and Prominent Nigerians Rally Behind Flying Eagles with Cash Boost Ahead of Semifinal Clash Against Niger

Leicester City’s Wilfred Ndidi has boosted the Flying Eagles’ morale with a substantial N5 million donation ahead of their crucial WAFU B U20 Championship semifinal against Niger Republic, set for Saturday. Ndidi, who began his career with the Flying Eagles, made this contribution as a gesture of encouragement for the young team, joining a growing list of notable Nigerians backing the squad.

Also stepping up, Deputy Senate President Senator Barau Jibrin donated N2 million, commending the team’s performance. Additionally, Frank Peters, Chairman of Crystal Sapphire Ltd, contributed N1.5 million and promised more if the Flying Eagles secure a victory over Niger. Other supporters include football enthusiast Mr. Victor Apugo, who pledged N1 million, with an additional N2 million if the team progresses, and Switzerland-based coach Adedeji Adeyemi Anthony, who fulfilled his N1 million promise after Nigeria’s victory over Côte d’Ivoire.

Mavlon FC’s Chairman, Barrister Kenneth Agadugba, added N2 million, vowing an extra N12 million should the team reach the tournament final. The Nigeria Football Federation also donated N1 million, with another anonymous donor contributing N1.5 million.

Nigeria, the defending champions, advanced to the semifinals after a 2-1 comeback win over Côte d’Ivoire, clinching the top spot in Group B. Their match against Niger will take place at 2 pm Nigeria time, with a win securing their place in the 2025 AFCON U20 and the WAFU B U20 final.
