Fenerbahçe Thrash Kayserispor 6-2 in Turkish Süper Lig Thriller
Ghanaian defender Alexander Djiku has commended his Fenerbahçe teammates for their exceptional display following a commanding 6-2 victory over Kayserispor in the Turkish Süper Lig on Saturday.
The Black Stars stalwart, who played the entire match at the RHG Enertürk Enerji Stadium, endured a mixed outing as he contributed defensively but also inadvertently scored an own goal in the 43rd minute. Despite this setback, Djiku’s performance was key to Fenerbahçe’s success, showcasing resilience and composure.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Djiku expressed his delight:
“Great team performance, let’s keep it up guys!”
The visitors started strong, with Dusan Tadic breaking the deadlock in the 7th minute. Oguz Aydin quickly followed with a brace, finding the net in the 15th and 26th minutes to give Fenerbahçe a commanding lead. Djiku’s own goal just before halftime gave Kayserispor a glimmer of hope, which was further extended by Dimitrios Kolovetsios’ 56th-minute strike.
However, Fenerbahçe regained control, with goals from Youssef En-Nesyri, Filip Kostic, and Sebastian Szymanski sealing the emphatic win.
Djiku has been a cornerstone for Fenerbahçe this season, amassing 16 appearances and solidifying their defense in a campaign marked by impressive consistency.
