Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has expressed high praise for Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey, applauding his contributions to the team during a season in which Partey has demonstrated both skill and resilience. Partey, who joined Arsenal from Atletico Madrid in 2020 on a five-year contract, has had his share of injury setbacks. However, this season he’s returned to form, making 12 appearances and finding the net once, an accomplishment that has impressed the Arsenal boss.
Ahead of Arsenal’s Premier League clash against Newcastle United at St. James’ Park, Arteta acknowledged the importance of Partey’s role. Beyond his natural defensive midfield position, Partey has adapted to various roles as needed, showcasing his versatility—a quality Arteta values highly.
“The one thing that we needed was Thomas to be at the level we wanted certainly,” Arteta shared on Friday via the club’s website. “He’s working so hard to do what he’s doing at the moment, and I think he’s playing really well in different positions with different demands and he’s coping with it in a great way. He’s a big player for us.”
With Arteta’s endorsement, Partey will be eager to maintain his form and secure a starting position in the lineup against Newcastle, hoping to contribute meaningfully in the weekend’s early kick-off.
