Seth Panwum, the Chairman of the National Sports Authority (NSA) Board, has announced that Kumasi’s iconic Baba Yara Stadium is now prepared to host football matches once again. After undergoing significant maintenance, the stadium’s pitch has reached the standards required to host both local and international games.
Previously sidelined after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) revoked its license due to the poor condition of its playing surface, the Baba Yara Stadium has now been re-turfed and upgraded. Speaking to Channel One TV, Panwum emphasized the effort invested to ensure the field is in top shape.
“The grass is up to standard now,” Panwum confirmed, explaining that regular reviews and maintenance will continue to keep the pitch game-ready. This upgrade means Asante Kotoko and other local teams will soon be able to return to their home ground to a revitalized field.
With these improvements, fans can look forward to a host of exciting matches back at the Baba Yara Stadium, an essential venue for Ghanaian football.
