Black Stars Ready for High-Stakes AFCON Qualifier Against Angola

The Black Stars of Ghana have arrived in Luanda with determination, set to hold an official training session on Thursday night, November 14, 2024, at the Estádio 11 de Novembro. This session, scheduled for 8:00 pm local time, will be the final tune-up ahead of a critical 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against group leaders Angola.

The journey to Luanda follows three intensive training sessions in Accra, where Ghana’s squad worked on sharpening tactics and boosting morale. The stakes are high for Friday’s match, as Ghana sits in third place in Group F with only two points from four games, trailing both Angola and Sudan. Angola, undefeated so far, leads the group with a perfect 12 points and is 10 points clear of Ghana.

For the Black Stars, Friday’s clash is a must-win to revive their AFCON qualification hopes. With a final group match against Niger on the horizon, coach Otto Addo and his team know the importance of securing all three points in Luanda. Ghana’s fate in the 2025 tournament, set to be hosted by Morocco, also depends on the results of Sudan’s remaining games, intensifying the pressure.

The team is focused and prepared, aiming to put forth a strong performance in this penultimate qualifier. The match represents Ghana’s best chance to turn their qualification journey around and join the continent’s elite next year.
