Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola had nothing but praise for Ghanaian forward Antoine Semenyo after the 24-year-old delivered a stellar performance in Bournemouth’s 2-1 win against Manchester City. Semenyo, who opened the scoring in the match, was awarded Man of the Match for his energetic and dynamic display that saw him heavily involved in the team’s offense.
Semenyo’s standout performance marks his fourth goal in ten Premier League appearances this season, an impressive feat considering he’s already halfway to matching his total from last year. Formerly with Bristol City, Semenyo has stepped up his game since joining Bournemouth, responding well to the higher expectations set by Iraola.
Reflecting on the forward’s potential, Iraola commented, “He has been playing very well all season. I think we demand a lot from him because I believe he can give a lot. And today, he probably scored, and everyone is giving him more recognition.” Iraola also highlighted the contributions of left-back Milos Kerkes, who has formed a strong partnership with Semenyo on the flank, providing vital support in attack.
The victory over Manchester City has turned heads across the league, with several clubs reportedly taking note of Semenyo’s development. Liverpool is rumored to be keeping a close eye on the young Ghanaian, possibly considering him as a future replacement for Mohamed Salah.
For now, however, Semenyo and his manager are focused on building momentum, with Iraola adding, “We’ve shown that if we give our best, we can compete against this kind of opposition.”
