Inaki Williams, the seasoned forward of Athletic Bilbao, has expressed his wholehearted support for his younger brother Nico’s decision to stay with the club, despite the tempting offer from Barcelona over the summer. Nico, who had a standout performance at the European Championship with Spain, found himself in the spotlight with Barcelona eager to bring him into their fold. But after much contemplation, he chose to remain loyal to Athletic Bilbao.
Appearing with his brother on the Spanish TV show La Revuelta on LA 1, Inaki shared insights into the challenging summer Nico faced. “It was a very long, very hard summer for him,” Inaki said, reflecting on the whirlwind of decisions his brother had to make. “After several months, for me, he has made the right one.”
The choice seems even more meaningful now, as the Williams brothers are living their dream of playing together in the Europa League. “Now we have fulfilled a dream, like the whole team,” Inaki added. “Few of us are lucky enough to experience European competition with Athletic Club, and now we’re achieving a shared dream that goes beyond just the two of us.”
