Dele-Bashiru Shines as Lazio Dominate Bologna in Serie A Clash

Nigerian international Fisayo Dele-Bashiru made a memorable impact in Lazio’s 3-0 triumph over Bologna on Sunday, marking his first-ever Serie A goal.

The match, held at the iconic Stadio Olimpico, began with drama as Bologna’s Tommaso Pobega was shown a red card in the 35th minute for a reckless challenge, leaving his side a man down. Despite the numerical advantage, Lazio struggled to break through Bologna’s resilient defense until the 68th minute, when substitute Samuel Gigot opened the scoring with a close-range effort.

Four minutes later, Mattia Zaccagni doubled the lead with a sublime curled strike, further energizing the home crowd.

In the 85th minute, Dele-Bashiru entered the fray, replacing Argentine forward Valentín Castellanos. The 23-year-old wasted no time in announcing himself, capitalizing on a swift Lazio counter-attack to fire home the third goal of the match. His clinical finish sealed the victory and underscored his growing influence in the team.

The goal was a significant milestone for Dele-Bashiru, who joined Lazio from Turkish club Hatayspor in the summer. It adds to his impressive start at the Italian club, where he also scored in a UEFA Europa League clash against Dinamo Kiev in September.

Dele-Bashiru’s form has been equally inspiring on the international stage. In October, he netted the decisive goal in Nigeria’s 1-0 win over Libya during an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

Having scored a career-high eight goals for Hatayspor last season, the dynamic midfielder will be eager to build on his Lazio breakthrough as he pushes for more playing time under coach Maurizio Sarri.
