Ahead of the African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers, Nigeria’s home-based Super Eagles head coach, Austin Eguavoen, has announced his 35-man squad to face Ghana in a crucial two-legged showdown in December. Eguavoen, who has worked extensively with his technical team, emphasized the collaborative approach taken to assemble this lineup, engaging with league coaches, assistants, and scouts to assess top talents from Nigeria’s domestic league.
The squad is a balanced blend of skill and versatility across all positions. In goal, Rivers United’s Ohisodumeya Osagie is joined by Henry Ozomena of Enyimba FC and Mohammed Galadima of Nasarawa United. The defense boasts strong contenders like Akwa United’s Wisdom Ndom and Ifeanyi Onyebuchi from Enugu Rangers. Midfielders such as Innocent Godwin from Abia Warriors and Remo Stars’ Jide Fatokun bring flexibility to the field, while forwards like Samuel Ayorinde of Shooting Stars and Sikiru Alimi from Remo Stars promise firepower up front.
Eguavoen expressed optimism for the upcoming games, sharing that the team is ready to secure a victory against their West African rivals, Ghana, and earn their place in the CHAN tournament next year.
