The incident occurred roughly two kilometers from the Jos International Stadium, where unidentified thugs reportedly targeted the team, leading to injuries for several players and staff.
Disturbing images surfaced on social media, showing team members with visible wounds and bloodied faces. Enugu Rangers’ general manager, Amobi Ezeaku, expressed his dismay, calling the attack “unwarranted” and vowing to take action. The club has officially lodged a petition with the authorities, seeking justice and accountability for the perpetrators.
In a formal statement, Ezeaku reassured fans and supporters: “We wish to inform you about the unfortunate incident that occurred during our match against Plateau United in Jos. The attack on our team was unwarranted, and we are taking all necessary steps to ensure justice is served,” he said.
He further emphasized the club’s unwavering dedication to upholding its reputation and values, stating, “Under this administration, the symbol of our great club must never be disrespected, and we will go to any length to preserve its honour and legacy. Our commitment to upholding the values and pride of Rangers is unwavering.”
Ezeaku assured fans that every measure would be taken to protect Rangers’ players and staff, declaring the club’s commitment to seeing this issue through and making sure those responsible are held accountable.
