Bayer Leverkusen cruised to a dominant 5-0 victory over Salzburg in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday, showcasing their impressive attacking prowess and extending their perfect record against the Austrian side.
The match got off to a fast start with Florian Wirtz converting a penalty in the 8th minute to give Leverkusen the lead. Just 22 minutes later, Wirtz doubled his tally with a clinical strike, following a stunning free-kick from Alejandro Grimaldo that put Leverkusen up 2-0 in the 27th minute. Salzburg struggled to break into the game, unable to find their rhythm against a relentless Leverkusen side.
The second half saw more brilliance from the German side, with Jeremie Frimpong playing a pivotal role. His brilliant run down the right wing led to a pinpoint assist for Patrik Schick, who tapped in from close range in the 61st minute. Just 11 minutes later, Aleix Garcia rounded off the rout with a powerful finish, making it 5-0 and securing a commanding win for Leverkusen.
With 62% possession and 29 shots, Leverkusen were fully in control, further cementing their status as Group F leaders ahead of their final group-stage clash against Union Berlin. Frimpong’s standout performance with his assist and relentless energy down the right flank was a key highlight in a memorable team display.
