The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has addressed public concerns over the state of buses recently distributed to Division One League clubs, emphasizing transparency about their condition.
Henry Asante Twum, the GFA’s Communications Director, clarified that the vehicles, distributed to nine clubs across three zones on November 20, 2024, at the Accra Sports Stadium, were not new and that clubs had been informed of this prior to receiving them.
“Clubs were aware the buses were not brand new. I think the problem was with the condition,” Asante Twum told Joy FM. “It is unfortunate that some of the clubs received buses that were not in good condition. It was never the intention of the GFA to provide buses that would cause problems for the clubs instead of assisting them.”
The issue arose after a viral video showcased the worn interiors of some buses, sparking public criticism. In response, the GFA expressed regret about the situation and reiterated its commitment to supporting clubs.
Asante Twum also disclosed that additional buses, currently awaiting clearance at the Tema Harbour, will be distributed to other clubs soon.
