The Black Stars’ head coach, Otto Addo, and his technical staff have reportedly gone three months without pay, according to a report by Kessben FM. The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is said to be working closely with the Ministry of Youth and Sports to address the salary arrears.

Otto Addo, who took over the national team in March 2024 following Chris Hughton’s underwhelming tenure, has faced a challenging return to Ghanaian football. The former Borussia Dortmund assistant coach, now in his second stint with the Black Stars, inherited a team struggling for form.

Unfortunately, his reign has been marked by a disastrous AFCON 2025 qualifying campaign. The Black Stars failed to secure a single win in six games, recording three losses and three draws. The dismal run placed Ghana at the bottom of Group F, ensuring they missed out on the Africa Cup of Nations for the first time in 20 years. The last time Ghana was absent from the tournament was in 2004.

This historic failure has triggered a national outcry, and Otto Addo has been summoned by the GFA for a crucial meeting on Wednesday, November 27, 2024. The agenda will reportedly address both his unpaid wages and the team’s poor performance, as the GFA seeks to chart a path forward for the beleaguered footballing powerhouse.
