The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced plans to engage key stakeholders to decide the fate of Black Stars head coach Otto Addo following a disappointing AFCON 2025 qualifying campaign.

This decision comes after a crucial technical review meeting held on Wednesday, November 27, where the 47-year-old coach met with the Executive Council of the GFA. Addo, who was reappointed on a three-year deal in March 2024, has come under intense scrutiny after failing to secure a single win in six qualifying matches.

The Black Stars finished at the bottom of Group F, with three draws and three defeats, marking the first time in 20 years that Ghana will miss the Africa Cup of Nations. The outcome has sparked widespread dissatisfaction across the country, with many fans and pundits calling for Addo’s dismissal.

In a statement released by the GFA on Friday, the association expressed the shared disappointment of its Executive Council and Regional Football Chairmen. They highlighted the urgency for improved performance as Ghana prepares for the upcoming FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

“The Executive Council and the Regional Football Chairmen shared the nation’s disappointment with the Head Coach at the meeting and the desire of all Ghanaians that the nation qualifies for the World Cup. Hence, the demand for better performance and results in the upcoming games,” the statement read.

The GFA further noted that consultations with members of the football ecosystem would be held to formulate a comprehensive plan for the national team.

Otto Addo’s future as head coach remains uncertain, with the impending consultations likely to determine whether he continues at the helm.
