Ghanaian forward Inaki Williams expressed his delight after playing a key role in Athletic Bilbao’s comeback win over Ludogorets in their UEFA Europa League match on Thursday night. Williams helped his team rally from a 1-0 deficit to secure a crucial 2-1 victory at the Huvepharma Arena.
The game began with Ludogorets taking the lead in the 20th minute, courtesy of Erick Marcus. Athletic Bilbao, however, returned from halftime with renewed determination, launching a spirited comeback in the second half. Williams stepped up in the 73rd minute, netting the equalizer from an assist by Oscar de Marcos. Just a minute later, Nico Serrano scored the winning goal, sealing a hard-fought victory for the Spanish club.
Reflecting on the win, Williams wrote on X, “The one who had to enter is in. We continue adding points in Europe.” The Black Stars forward has been instrumental for Athletic Bilbao this season, with five goals and four assists in 16 appearances across all competitions.
Williams will now shift focus to international duty, joining the Ghana squad for their upcoming AFCON 2025 qualifiers against Angola and Niger. He is set to arrive in the Black Stars camp this weekend.
