Leicester City forward Jordan Ayew described his last-gasp equalizer against Ipswich Town as a “crazy moment” after he secured a crucial point for his team in a tense Premier League encounter on Saturday. Ayew, combining with Jamie Vardy in the dying seconds, struck past Ipswich’s keeper Arijanet Muric to deny the home side their first win of the season.
Leif Davis had earlier put Ipswich ahead with a stunning volley, which looked likely to seal victory until Ayew’s timely intervention changed the game’s outcome. This marks Ayew’s second stoppage-time goal of the season, following his last-minute winner over Southampton last month.
“Crazy, crazy, crazy moment,” Ayew commented. “It was a tough game. Ipswich played well, we did too, but sometimes you need that bit of luck, and we got it in the end.”
The 33-year-old, who joined Leicester from Crystal Palace on a two-year, £5 million deal this summer, has quickly cemented his place as a key player under manager Steve Cooper.
