Kofi Fosuhene Asare Shines as Landskrona and Värnamo Play Out Thrilling Draw in Allsvenskan Playoffs

In a night of high drama at the Landskrona Idrottsplats, Swedish-born Ghanaian winger Kofi Fosuhene Asare delivered a crucial performance to help Landskrona BoIS secure a 2-2 draw against IFK Värnamo in the first leg of the Allsvenskan Qualification Final.

The match began with an early blow for the home side when Emin Grozdanic nodded in Simon Thern’s precise set-piece delivery to put Värnamo ahead in the 13th minute. However, the visitors’ joy was short-lived as Grozdanic saw red for a second bookable offense in the 36th minute, forcing Värnamo to defend their lead with ten men for the remainder of the game.

Buoyed by their numerical advantage, Landskrona equalized early in the second half through Robin Dzabic’s thunderous long-range strike in the 50th minute. The turning point came in the 69th minute when Asare latched onto Adam Egnell’s pinpoint pass, calmly slotting the ball home to ignite the home crowd and give Landskrona a 2-1 lead.

Despite being down a man, Värnamo refused to back down. Joel Voelkerling Persson stunned the hosts with a clinical header in the 86th minute, ensuring the tie remains on a knife edge heading into the second leg.

With possession heavily favoring Landskrona (59%) and their home fans providing spirited support, they’ll aim to complete the job on November 24 when the stage shifts to Värnamo’s backyard.
