AS Monaco has welcomed back Ghanaian defender Mohammed Salisu to their squad for the upcoming Ligue 1 match against Strasbourg, following his recovery from an injury sustained during the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers. Salisu, who picked up the injury playing for Ghana against Sudan in October, returned to training this week and was immediately named in the traveling squad.
Salisu’s absence had impacted Monaco’s title ambitions, with the team dropping from joint top to third in Ligue 1, now trailing Paris Saint-Germain by six points. The defender’s return provides a crucial boost for Monaco’s defensive lineup as they aim to regain momentum in the title race.
However, Salisu has not been called up to the Ghanaian national squad for their final AFCON qualifiers against Angola and Niger. In his place, Black Stars coach Otto Addo has selected French-based defender Nathaniel Adjei for the decisive matches. The Black Stars are scheduled to face Angola in Luanda on Friday, before hosting Niger in Accra on Monday, November 18.
