Ghanaian defender Mohammed Salisu is shifting focus to AS Monaco’s crucial UEFA Champions League clash against Benfica on Wednesday, following a triumphant weekend in the French Ligue 1.
Salisu, who recently returned from injury, featured prominently as Monaco secured a 2-1 victory over Brest at the Stade Louis-II last Friday. The match saw an early goal from Maghnes Akliouche in the 5th minute, followed by Aleksandr Golovin’s strike in the 24th minute, giving the hosts a comfortable lead. Brest’s Abdallah Sima narrowed the deficit in the 50th minute, but Monaco held on for all three points.
After the game, the 25-year-old Black Stars center-back expressed his delight on X (formerly Twitter), writing, “On to the next one. Three points.”
Now fully recovered and with eight appearances across competitions this season, Salisu will play a pivotal role as Monaco prepares for their mid-week showdown against Portuguese giants Benfica, a match crucial for their Champions League aspirations.
