“Moses Foh-Amoaning Calls for Comprehensive GFA Strategy to Revive Black Stars”

Ghana football is at a crossroads, and the call for revival has been loud and clear. Moses Foh-Amoaning, a member of the Justice Dzamefe Commission of Enquiry, has urged the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to present a clear and actionable plan to restore the glory of the Black Stars and the nation’s football.

This comes in the wake of a dismal showing in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers. Under the leadership of head coach Otto Addo, the Black Stars endured their worst qualifying campaign in decades, finishing at the bottom of Group F with just three points and no victories in six matches. For the first time in 21 years, Ghana will miss out on AFCON participation, leaving fans and stakeholders deeply disappointed.

The GFA’s Executive Council met on Wednesday to deliberate on the future of the national team and Otto Addo’s tenure but failed to reach a conclusive decision. However, a final resolution is expected on November 27, followed by a retreat with key stakeholders on November 28 to discuss the way forward.

Speaking in an interview with Asempa FM, Foh-Amoaning stressed the need for transparency and a long-term vision. “The FA must come out with a plan. They need to tell Ghanaians where the football is now, acknowledge the mess, and ask for patience as they work on solutions,” he stated.

He added that merely apologizing to fans without concrete actions would not be enough. “Ghanaians deserve to know what the FA has done and where they plan to take football. We need more than just words; we need a detailed roadmap for change,” he emphasized.

Looking ahead, the Black Stars will shift their focus to the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, set to begin in March 2025. Their campaign starts with matches against Chad and Madagascar, with fans hopeful for a better performance.
