Tokyo 2020 Olympic bronze medalist Samuel Takyi extended his unbeaten streak to 5 wins with 5 knockouts after defeating Emmanuel Quartey in the second round of their scheduled 8-round bout. The fight, held at the Ace Power Promotions event at Center Point Mall in Madina Atomic Junction, showcased Takyi’s superior skill and conditioning.
Quartey, nicknamed ‘The Tormentor,’ had promised to “teach Takyi boxing,” but the tables turned as Takyi dominated and stopped him early in the fight. This victory comes on the heels of Takyi’s recent gold medal win at the Accra 2023 African Games.
Currently managed by Street Wise and training under national coach Dr. Ofori Asare at the Wisdom Gym, Takyi is seen as one of Ghana’s brightest boxing talents. Coach Asare has expressed confidence that Wisdom Boxing Club will soon produce world champions.
Meanwhile, two other Wisdom Boxing Club fighters are set for action this weekend at the Bukom Boxing Arena. Haruna Mohammed Sadat, aka ‘Thunder,’ will compete for the National Cruiserweight title against Jacob Dickson, while Theo ‘Lopez’ Allotey faces Aryetey, known as ‘Iron,’ in a Bantamweight clash.
