“Sergen Yalçın Ranks Osimhen Above En-Nesyri: A Tale of Strikers in the Super Lig”

In a recent analysis of the Turkish Super Lig’s attacking talent, former Beşiktaş star Sergen Yalçın has voiced his preference for Victor Osimhen over Youssef En-Nesyri, the most expensive signing in league history.

Osimhen, on loan from Napoli, made headlines when he joined Galatasaray in September, while En-Nesyri transferred to Fenerbahçe in July for a staggering 19.5 million euros. The Moroccan international’s hefty price tag marked him as the highest-ever signing in Turkish football, but his performance has not matched the expectations set by his transfer fee.

Yalçın pointed out that Osimhen has quickly become a crowd favorite at RAMS Park, forming a potent partnership with Mauro Icardi. With four goals and four assists in just seven games for Galatasaray, Osimhen has showcased his ability to influence matches, contributing assists against both Rizespor and Fenerbahçe and scoring in three consecutive Süper Lig matches as well as delivering two assists in the UEFA Europa League.

In contrast, En-Nesyri has faced challenges at Fenerbahçe, struggling to gain the full confidence of coach José Mourinho, who has favored Edin Dzeko in most matches. Although En-Nesyri has managed to score and assist in his last two league starts, Yalçın remains unconvinced that the investment in the striker was justified, highlighting his inconsistency.

“You give 18 million to En-Nesyri, but you cannot say, ‘This money will be given, he will save this team, he will score many goals.’ You can say this for Osimhen, without hesitation,” Yalçın remarked during an appearance on Ekol TV.

With both strikers having different impacts on their respective teams, the numbers tell a compelling story: Osimhen’s contributions stand out starkly against En-Nesyri’s. The Nigerian’s impressive stats have left fans and pundits alike questioning the true value of the Fenerbahçe forward.
