Sudan’s AFCON 2025 Dream: Ignatius Osei-Fosu Confident of Glory

Sudan’s assistant coach, Ignatius Osei-Fosu, has declared the team’s ambitious target for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) — to bring home the coveted trophy. Under the leadership of head coach Kwesi Appiah, the Falcons of Jediane have undergone a remarkable transformation, evidenced by their strong performance in the qualifiers.

Sudan secured second place in Group F with eight points, a feat that saw them deny African football giants Ghana a spot in the tournament. Osei-Fosu, who previously managed Ghanaian clubs Medeama SC and Techiman Eleven Wonders, credits Kwesi Appiah’s winning mentality for the team’s resurgence.

“Kwesi Appiah approaches every game with the expectation to win, and that mentality has inspired us all. Our goal for AFCON 2025 is to lift the trophy, and we believe we have the quality and preparation to achieve it,” Osei-Fosu told 3Sports.

Appiah, who took charge of Sudan’s national team in September 2023, has instilled a sense of belief and discipline in the squad. Their qualification alone has bolstered the team’s confidence, but as Osei-Fosu emphasizes, the real battle lies in Morocco, where the competition will be fierce.

Sudan’s ambitions may seem bold, but for a team riding high on recent success, anything feels possible. As they prepare for AFCON 2025, the Falcons of Jediane are determined to make history and show the continent the depth of their potential.
