Super Eagles Set to Camp in Abidjan for Final AFCON Qualifiers Against Benin and Rwanda

The Super Eagles of Nigeria are gearing up for their decisive AFCON 2025 qualifying matches, with plans to establish camp in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire. The team, led by coach Augustine Eguavoen, will gather in Abidjan on Sunday, November 10, as they prepare to face the Benin Republic in a high-stakes clash set for Thursday, November 14, at the Houphet Boigny Stadium.

The stadium has become familiar ground for Benin’s Cheetahs, serving as their base for recent AFCON and World Cup qualifiers. Despite Benin’s advantage of familiarity, Nigeria holds the upper hand in Group D, sitting comfortably with 10 points from four games. A draw would be enough for the Super Eagles to book their ticket to Morocco for AFCON 2025. Benin trails with six points, followed by Rwanda at five, and Libya with just one.

After their Abidjan showdown, the Nigerian squad will return home to face Rwanda on November 18 for their final qualifier. Nigeria previously defeated Benin 3-0 in Uyo and played a goalless draw against Rwanda in Kigali.

In terms of squad news, West Bromwich Albion’s defender Semi Ajayi will miss the upcoming qualifiers due to a long-term injury, but the return of Moses Simon from a knee injury brings renewed optimism. The FC Nantes winger has been in fine form this season, boasting two goals and three assists in Ligue 1, and his presence bolsters the Super Eagles’ attacking lineup.

As the countdown to AFCON 2025 intensifies, Nigeria stands on the brink of qualification, with high hopes of securing their place among Africa’s elite in Morocco.
