Super Eagles players Taiwo Awoniyi, Ola Aina, and Wilfred Ndidi had a challenging weekend in the Premier League, as their clubs Nottingham Forest and Leicester City both faced tough losses.
Nottingham Forest, boasting a solid recent form with three wins in their last five games, started strong against Newcastle United at City Ground. Murillo opened the scoring with a header in the 21st minute, putting Forest in control. However, Newcastle turned the game around in the second half with goals from Alexander Isak, Joelinton, and Harvey Barnes, ultimately securing a 3-1 victory.
Aina played well, managing two tackles, 65 touches, and winning three ground duels. Awoniyi entered late in the 88th minute, aiming to add intensity, though he couldn’t shift the outcome. The loss saw Forest temporarily slip to fifth place in the standings.
Meanwhile, Wilfred Ndidi and Leicester City were also dealt a blow at Old Trafford. Despite Ndidi’s solid 70-minute performance—registering 39 touches, 88% pass accuracy, and three goal attempts—Manchester United took a commanding 3-0 win. Ndidi came close to scoring in the first half, but his effort was saved by Andre Onana.
