Ghanaian football legend Abedi Pele has thrown his weight behind the Black Galaxies as they prepare to face Nigeria in the African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers. The three-time African Footballer of the Year has promised to be at the Accra Sports Stadium on December 20 to cheer on the home-based national team in the crucial first-leg encounter.
Abedi Pele made this pledge during a visit to the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence, where his club, Nania FC, played a friendly against the Black Galaxies. Although his team lost 1-0, the former Olympique Marseille star was full of praise for the Galaxies’ performance.
“It’s been a pleasure for me to play this team today,” Pele said. “What I have discovered is you have a good team, strong physically and wonderful technically. The future of Ghana football is in the making.”
The football icon highlighted the hunger, determination, and patriotism displayed by the players, emphasizing these qualities as key to their success.
Abedi Pele concluded by assuring the team of his support in their upcoming clash with Nigeria. “I saw not only physical strength but tactical strength as well. I will make sure I am with you at the Accra Sports Stadium to be your best support,” he affirmed.
The Black Galaxies will be hoping to capitalize on home advantage in the first leg before traveling to Nigeria for the return fixture.
