Abedi Pele Inspires Black Maidens Ahead of WAFU B U17 Girls Cup

Prampram, Ghana – December 2024

As the Black Maidens prepare to conquer the WAFU B U17 Girls Cup, they received a surprise visit from one of Ghana’s greatest football icons, Abedi Ayew ‘Pele’. The former Black Stars captain, renowned for his legendary status in African football, spent time with the team at the GFA Technical Center in Prampram, offering words of wisdom and encouragement that could inspire a championship run.

During the session, Abedi Pele praised the players for their hard work and commitment, urging them to channel their discipline and focus into dominating the tournament.

“I am impressed with how well you are executing your coaches’ instructions on the pitch,” he said. “Stay focused and disciplined. I eagerly look forward to seeing the Black Maidens dominate the upcoming tournament, and I hope you win it.”

The visit comes at a crucial time as the Maidens, buoyed by their strong preparation, have already demonstrated their potential in friendly matches. They recently secured back-to-back victories against Rootz Sistaz FC, winning 5-1 and 2-0, showcasing their attacking prowess and defensive resilience. Their next challenge is a friendly encounter against FC Epiphany Warriors on Friday, December 6, at Prampram.

This competition holds special significance for the team as they aim to restore their reputation following a two-year ban by CAF in 2022 for alleged age-cheating. With Abedi Pele’s motivational words echoing in their minds, the team is determined to make a triumphant return and etch their name in the tournament’s history.
