Ghanaian midfielder Baba Iddrisu’s 2024/25 season has ended prematurely after he suffered a severe knee injury while playing for UD Almería. The influential midfielder sustained a partial tear of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his left knee, along with a grade 2 sprain of his internal lateral ligament, during last week’s match.
Almería’s medical team confirmed the injury and outlined the recovery process. “Baba will require surgery, but we must first allow the lateral ligament sprain to heal, which will take four to five weeks,” explained Sebastián Jiménez, the club’s head of medical staff, in an interview with Mundo Deportivo.
Iddrisu, who made 10 appearances this season in La Liga 2, has been a key figure in Almería’s midfield, known for his defensive solidity and precise passing. His absence is a significant blow to the team’s promotion hopes and the Black Stars, who will also miss his services during this recovery period.
The 28-year-old now faces a challenging road to recovery, but fans and teammates have rallied behind him, expressing their support as he begins his rehabilitation journey.
