The Black Galaxies of Ghana have embarked on a journey to Lomé, Togo, for an international friendly as part of their preparations for the upcoming African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifier against Nigeria.
The team has been in camp for the past month under the guidance of head coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani, focusing on fine-tuning their strategies and evaluating the 30 players invited to camp. The friendly in Togo is seen as a vital test before the final squad is announced for the decisive two-legged clash.
Ghana will host the first leg of the qualifier in Accra between December 20 and 23, with the return leg set to take place in Abuja. The Black Galaxies are determined to secure their spot in the tournament, aiming to improve on their previous CHAN performances.
In their last outing, Ghana eliminated Nigeria to qualify for the 2023 CHAN tournament but failed to progress beyond the group stage. The team’s most notable achievements at CHAN remain their runner-up finishes in 2009 and 2014.
As they face their familiar rivals once more, the Black Galaxies are keen to make a stronger impact and restore their reputation on the continental stage.
