Preparations Intensify Ahead of Regional Showdown
Ghana’s U17 women’s national team, the Black Maidens, are set to test their mettle in a friendly match against FC Epiphany on Friday, December 6, at the GFA Technical Center in Prampram. This fixture is a critical step in their preparation for the upcoming WAFU B U17 Girls Cup, as the team eyes regional glory.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) confirmed the friendly, underscoring the importance of fine-tuning tactics and team cohesion ahead of the tournament. It follows the Maidens’ recent commanding victory over Rootz Sistaz FC, a match that highlighted their potential to dominate the competition.
Adding to the team’s momentum, Ghanaian football legend Abedi Ayew ‘Pele’ paid a visit to the squad, offering words of encouragement. The former Black Stars captain praised the players for their discipline and commitment to their coaches’ strategies.
“I am impressed with how well you are executing your coaches’ instructions on the pitch. Stay focused and be disciplined,” he advised.
The three-time African Player of the Year also shared his optimism about their chances in the WAFU B tournament. “I am eagerly looking forward to seeing the Black Maidens dominate in the upcoming tournament, and I hope you win it,” he added.
With the legendary Abedi Pele’s backing and their recent form, the Black Maidens are poised to make an impact when the regional championship kicks off.
