Veteran Ghanaian midfielder Emmanuel Boateng secures another year with MLS side
Emmanuel “Ema” Boateng’s journey in Major League Soccer continues as New England Revolution has opted to extend the Ghanaian midfielder’s contract for another season. The club exercised their one-year option on the 30-year-old after a solid showing during the 2024 campaign.
Re-signing with New England Revolution at the start of 2024, Boateng featured prominently throughout the season. He made 23 appearances, contributing two goals and two assists. While the Revolution fell short of a playoff spot, Boateng’s performances on the pitch impressed the coaching staff enough to earn him another year in New England.
Boateng’s career reflects a remarkable rise. After graduating from Ghana’s prestigious Right to Dream Academy in 2012, he moved to the United States and began his football journey with Santa Barbara. Following a brief stint in Sweden, he joined the MLS in 2019 with LA Galaxy.
Since then, he has built an impressive résumé, winning the 2020 MLS Cup with Columbus Crew and enjoying spells with DC United before arriving in New England in 2021. His veteran experience and ability to influence games have made him a valuable asset to every team he has represented.
With this extension, Boateng looks to build on his MLS legacy and help New England Revolution turn things around in the 2025 season.
