Rivers United head coach and former Super Eagles winger, Finidi George, has been honored as the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Manager of the Month for October 2024. The award recognizes his exceptional leadership that kept Rivers United unbeaten throughout the month, propelling the team into strong contention for the title.

A Month of Excellence

October proved to be a defining month for Finidi George and his team. The month kicked off with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Akwa United, a result that extended Rivers United’s unbeaten streak to five matches. This momentum carried into a gritty 0-0 stalemate away against Katsina United, followed by a commanding 2-0 win at home against Shooting Stars.

Rivers United also proved their resilience on the road, securing their second away win of the season with a 1-0 triumph over Niger Tornadoes in Minna. The month concluded with a 1-1 draw against El-Kanemi Warriors at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, further solidifying their position as one of the most consistent teams in the league.

In total, Finidi’s side accumulated three wins and two draws, scoring six goals and maintaining their unbeaten record throughout the month.

Recognition at the Cathedral

The prestigious League Bloggers Award (LBA) Manager of the Month accolade was presented to Finidi George at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, just before Rivers United’s clash with Rangers International. The presentation was conducted by Barr. Amobi Ezeaku, CEO/General Manager of Rangers International, in the presence of Finidi’s jubilant coaching staff.

Finidi celebrated the milestone with his backroom team, reflecting on the collective effort that has propelled Rivers United into a strong position this season.
