Ghana’s Stella Nyamekye Thrilled to Join Gotham FC in Ambitious Move

Gotham FC has bolstered its midfield with the signing of Ghanaian rising star Stella Nyamekye, who expressed her excitement about embarking on a new chapter in her career.

The 19-year-old midfielder joins the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) club from Dreamz Ladies FC, a prominent side in the Ghana Women’s Premier League. Nyamekye, who captained the Ghana U-20 national team at the 2024 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup and debuted for the senior national team in February 2023, sees this as a pivotal step in her development.

“I’m beyond excited to be joining Gotham FC and stepping into a new chapter of my career,” Nyamekye shared in her official statement. “I can’t wait to play on a team that has been so successful over recent seasons and alongside incredible players I’ve admired from afar. I’m ready to work hard and embrace the challenge ahead. See you all soon!”

Her signing represents a three-year deal that runs through the 2027 NWSL season, with a mutual option for 2028. For Nyamekye, this move is about embracing the opportunity to grow at the highest level of women’s soccer.

“The team’s success and the players here are incredible,” she added. “I’m excited to contribute and learn from them while challenging myself to improve every step of the way.”

Nyamekye’s arrival comes just a day after Gotham FC announced the signing of Sarah Schupansky, captain of the University of Pittsburgh women’s soccer team.

The duo represents Gotham’s commitment to blending experienced players with fresh talent, building on their recent successes in the league.
