Ghanaian winger Joseph Paintsil has opened up about the pivotal role his twin sister, Josephine, played in his decision to join MLS side LA Galaxy—a move that has proven instrumental in leading the club to the 2024 MLS Cup final.
Paintsil, who left Belgian side KRC Gent despite calls from fans to remain in Europe, credits his sister’s intuition and unwavering support for influencing the life-changing switch.
“I was feeling good, and my twin sister was feeling good, so I knew it was the right decision. I told my agent, ‘No matter how we need to do it, we just have to make this move.’ And as you can see, I’m really blessed that everything has gone as planned,” he shared.
The 26-year-old further explained the deep connection he shares with his twin sister, emphasizing her role in his life and decisions.
“I never make decisions without her. She means so much to me, and sometimes, when she feels something bad or off, I feel it too. We’re connected—we came from the same womb, and that bond guides me,” Paintsil revealed.
Josephine’s encouragement proved vital as Paintsil adjusted to life in the United States. His exceptional performances have not only silenced critics but also led LA Galaxy to the cusp of a historic sixth MLS title.
LA Galaxy will face the New York Red Bulls in the final, with Paintsil hoping to cap off his stellar season with silverware.
