Joseph Paintsil Vows to Deliver World Cup Qualification for Ghana

Black Stars Forward Aims to Restore Pride After AFCON Heartbreak

Joseph Paintsil, Ghanaian forward and key player for the Black Stars, has reassured fans that the team will bounce back stronger and secure a spot at the 2026 World Cup. His promise comes after Ghana’s shock elimination from the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), where they endured their worst qualifying campaign in history.

The four-time AFCON champions finished last in Group F, managing only three points from six matches. Despite the heartbreak, the Black Stars are determined to make amends in the ongoing World Cup qualifiers.

Currently tied on points with Group C leaders Comoros, Ghana must stay focused in their remaining fixtures to book a ticket to the USA, Mexico, and Canada for the tournament.

Speaking on the AFCON debacle, Paintsil acknowledged the rising competitiveness of African teams. “We were surprised by a lot of teams. But you know, it happens. We just ask Ghanaians to always support us no matter what. We need to go through everything together,” he said.

Urging fans to rally behind the team, he added, “All they need to do is help us, pray for us, and support us in the upcoming qualification for the World Cup.”

The spotlight now falls on head coach Otto Addo, who has faced growing criticism for the AFCON failure. The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is yet to confirm his future, adding to the tension as the qualifiers progress.

For the Black Stars, the road to redemption begins now. Can they reclaim their place on the global stage?
