Ghanaian defender Mohammed Salisu has heaped praise on AS Monaco’s head coach, Adi Hütter, describing him as one of the best tacticians he has worked with in his career.
Salisu’s commendation came ahead of Monaco’s recent Ligue 1 clash against Olympique Marseille, where the team suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat. The Ghanaian center-back, who played the full match, is regaining form after recovering from an injury sustained during Ghana’s 2-0 loss to Sudan in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers—a result that contributed to the Black Stars missing out on the tournament.
Drawing comparisons between Hütter and his former manager Ralph Hasenhüttl at Southampton, Salisu highlighted their shared emphasis on high-pressing football, a system he thrives in.
“He is similar to one of my former coaches in England, Ralph Hasenhüttl. He has the same philosophy of play based on high pressing, a style that I particularly like and that corresponds to mine,” Salisu remarked.
Salisu also acknowledged the strides AS Monaco has made under Hütter’s leadership. “I feel like we have progressed a lot between last season and this one. So I would say that he is one of the best coaches I have worked under in my career.”
Currently sitting third in the Ligue 1 standings, AS Monaco continues to build on Hütter’s rich coaching experience. Known for his success with Red Bull Salzburg and Young Boys, where he won domestic titles and secured Champions League berths, Hütter’s influence is clearly resonating with players like Salisu.
