AS Monaco’s defensive stalwart, Mohammed Salisu, has opened up about his remarkable progress as a footballer since joining the French Ligue 1 side. After a challenging first season plagued by injuries, the Ghanaian defender has firmly established himself as a key figure in Monaco’s lineup.
In a candid interview with the club’s media, the former Real Valladolid and Southampton player shared insights into his development. “I think I have progressed with and without the ball. With our way of playing, we focus heavily on possession,” Salisu explained.
“As a defender, we must excel with the ball at our feet. Without the ball, I feel like I am winning more duels and making more interceptions compared to last season,” he added, highlighting the strides he has made in his game.
Salisu showcased his defensive prowess in his seventh appearance of the season during Monaco’s narrow 2-1 loss to Olympique Marseille last weekend. Despite the setback, the team remains in third place in Ligue 1 and is determined to rebound in their next match against Toulouse FC at Stade Louis II on Sunday, December 8.
