Brøndby IF booked their spot in the DBU Pokalen semi-finals after a thrilling 4-2 victory over AGF in the second leg of their quarter-final clash on Sunday, powered by a stellar performance from Danish-born Ghanaian midfielder Noah Nartey.
The encounter kicked off with Brøndby looking sharp and determined, and they wasted no time in asserting dominance. Veteran Daniel Wass set the tone in the 11th minute with a well-taken penalty, giving Brøndby an early advantage. On the half-hour mark, Mathias Kvistgaarden doubled their lead, finishing neatly from a Nicolai Vallys assist.
Brøndby carried their momentum into the second half, and it was Nartey’s creativity that once again made the difference. In the 57th minute, Nicolai Vallys capitalized on a smooth setup from Nartey to add Brøndby’s third. Nartey then stole the spotlight in the 77th minute, coolly slotting home Brøndby’s fourth after a clever feed from Clement Bischoff.
AGF refused to bow out quietly, rallying late with goals from Patrick Mortensen and Mikkel Duelund, but their efforts proved too little, too late as Brøndby sealed a 4-2 victory on the night and a 4-3 aggregate win overall.
The result not only sends Brøndby into the semi-finals but also balances their historic head-to-head record with AGF at 16 wins apiece. Up next, Brøndby will turn their focus to a Superligaen showdown against Viborg on February 16th.
