Kaduna-born striker seeks fresh start after limited opportunities in San Sebastián
Umar Sadiq, the Super Eagles forward, is reportedly keen on leaving Real Sociedad during the January transfer window, with his representatives already exploring potential destinations. According to AS, the 27-year-old’s agent has offered him to La Liga sides Sevilla, Getafe, and Valencia, as the striker struggles for game time this season.
Sevilla, who pursued Sadiq last summer, could renew their interest despite signing his compatriot Kelechi Iheanacho. The Nigerian forward, acquired from Leicester City, has struggled to make an impact, leaving Sevilla open to bolstering their attacking options.
Getafe could also re-enter the fray after their earlier attempt to sign Sadiq fell through. The Madrid-based club, which has scored a meager 11 goals in 18 league games, remains desperate for a reliable goal scorer to steer them away from the relegation zone.
Sadiq’s time at Real Sociedad has been far from productive since joining the club in 2022. Despite making 50 appearances across all competitions, he has managed just four goals and two assists. This season, the towering striker has been limited to only two La Liga starts, further amplifying his desire for a new challenge.
Reports suggest that Real Sociedad is open to letting Sadiq leave, either permanently or on loan, in what appears to be an inevitable parting of ways.
