Yaw Yeboah Bids Farewell to Columbus Crew After Championship Glory

Ghanaian winger Yaw Yeboah is set to part ways with Columbus Crew at the end of December as his contract with the Ohio-based club concludes. Columbus Crew declined the option to extend the 27-year-old’s stay for an additional year, making him eligible for the MLS Re-Entry Process.

Yeboah joined Columbus Crew in 2022 from Polish side Wisla Krakow on a two-year deal and quickly became a vital figure at Lower.com Field. His crowning moment came in 2023 when he scored the decisive goal in the MLS final, securing the Crew’s third league title.

Despite his heroics, Yeboah struggled for consistency in the 2024 season. Mostly utilized as a substitute, he made 24 appearances, contributing one goal and three assists. He was unable to participate in the playoffs, where Columbus Crew fell to Eastern Conference champions, the New York Red Bulls.

The club expressed gratitude for his contributions, posting on social media, “Forever a Champion. Thank you, Yaw, for your time in Black & Gold. We wish you the best in your next chapter.”

Yeboah’s departure marks the end of a mixed tenure with the Crew. The former Black Meteors captain, who also had a stint with Manchester City, may continue his MLS journey through the league’s Re-Entry Process.
