Black Stars Captain Shows Optimism After Consolation Goal Against Marseille
Ghanaian international Andre Ayew has expressed his relief and optimism after netting his first goal of the season in Le Havre’s 5-1 defeat to Olympique Marseille at the Orange Vélodrome. The Black Stars captain, who played 88 minutes, scored the lone consolation goal for his side in a tough outing against the French giants.
Marseille dominated the match, overwhelming Le Havre with clinical precision. Despite the heavy loss, Ayew managed to shine with glimpses of quality, including his well-taken goal.
Speaking after the match, Ayew acknowledged the defeat but focused on the positives from his personal performance. “As a forward, you can have a bad match, but when you score, it is considered a good game and vice versa. I am feeling better. I worked hard during the (Christmas) holidays, and I felt it today in this match. The more the match progressed, the more I felt better. It bodes well,” he stated.
Having made 10 appearances this season, Ayew is determined to inspire his team to improve their fortunes in the coming weeks. Last season, the experienced forward scored six goals in 20 appearances across all competitions for Le Havre.
Le Havre will look to bounce back as they continue their Ligue 1 campaign, with Ayew’s leadership and scoring ability expected to play a key role.
