Fulham defender Calvin Bassey has voiced his frustration following a 1-0 defeat to Manchester United at Craven Cottage, insisting his team deserved more from the game. Speaking to TNT Sports, Bassey reflected on the match, expressing pride in Fulham’s performance but admitting missed opportunities cost them dearly.
“I thought we deserved more,” Bassey said. “We controlled the game, and it just wasn’t our day. You need a bit of luck in football, and it didn’t come our way today.”
Fulham dominated possession and limited United’s chances for most of the match. However, a defensive lapse allowed Lisandro Martínez to score in the 78th minute, delivering the decisive blow.
Despite the setback, Bassey highlighted Fulham’s strong defensive effort. “They didn’t create too much to trouble us,” he noted. “We were aware of their quality, and I think we handled them well. But we lacked sharpness in the final third.”
The defender emphasized the need for improvement in converting chances, acknowledging Fulham’s struggle to create clear-cut opportunities. “We had a lot of the ball, but we didn’t create enough clear chances. That’s something we need to work on.”
The defeat leaves Fulham sitting 10th in the Premier League table, four points ahead of Manchester United. Bassey remains optimistic about the team’s resilience as they look to bounce back in their upcoming fixtures.
